In the 2004 Olympics in Athens Goldfine was selected as a team coach for The USA tennis team with Patrick McEnroe. Goldfine played a part with USA Davis Cup coaching activities as an assistant coach.
The year 2000 was the time that Goldfine created in 2000 the Pat Goldfine Tennis Pro-Am in 2000, an event to raise money to fund cancer research in honor of his mother, who passed away from lung and breast cancer.
Goldfine was a professional Tennis player Todd Martin’s trainer from the year 1996 through 2002. Under his direction, Martin achieved a career-high ranking of No. 4 . in the ATP singles rankings, made it to finals at the US Open final, and qualified for the ATP year-end championship in 1999.
In the 2004 tennis off-season after the U.S.’s Davis Cup final against Spain, USA Davis Cup stalwart Andy Roddick hired Goldfine to replace Brad Gilbert as his full-time coach. Under Goldfine’s coaching, Roddick won five titles (each on a different surface) and reached the 2005 Australian Open semifinal and 2005 Wimbledon final. In February 2006, Goldfine and Roddick decided to part ways amicably.
